My family and I moved to the Texas hill country from Phoenix, Arizona the summer of 2014. We left a wonderful support system of amazing friends back in the sunshine state, but God was calling us to move closer to my family here in Texas. Upon arriving, I began praying for the type of friendship that I had enjoyed “back home”. I met many wonderful people through the years, but a few years ago Ginger and her husband Dean showed up at our church. They were new to the community and it didn’t take long for Ginger and I to realize we were so very similar. We would meet for coffee and discuss faith, family and what in the world we were going to do in our “empty nest” years. We came up with a variety of our own ideas, yet always agreed that praying and allowing God to guide the process was the only option. I remember Ginger calling one day last summer asking if I’d seen the rental sign in the older building at the corner of 1431 and 281. “The Ken’s catfish building? Are they not there anymore?” She then took a peek at the space with her husband and informed me that she thought it could work! She shared that God had placed it on her heart to re-open Art of the Meal right here in Marble Falls.
Where do my interests and passions come “into the mix”?
I love meeting new people. I love finding ways to connect people together in order to meet needs. I love the idea of creating a space that people can come together and talk- truly talk. Maybe we can even host Dinner talks, or bless non-profits with a space to meet or celebrate or come together in a time of need. Possibly we can gather like-minded artisans together to create small shopping and tasting events that can bless the non-profits in our area. Oh…. what if we can bring in teenagers or young adults (I just LOVE this age group!) and create mentoring relationships– because I have experienced with my own girls that talks while “working” in the kitchen are the best!
A space to host Bible studies or prayer groups??? Wouldn’t that be amazing!!
This is how I think!
And God saw fit to bring Ginger and I together – here in Marble Falls, Texas.
And beautifully blessed us with Art of the Meal (2.0 the hill country version 😉 )
Please come check us out, whether you sign up for a class or book a private event, register your kids for kids cooking camps (I personally am SO excited to help with these!) or reach out to me to discuss how we might be a blessing to your ministry or non-profit. I look forward to meeting you!
